Worship Service for September 5, 2021

WELCOME

Good day, welcome and thanks for joining CrossPointe Community Church’s on-line Word worship presentation. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. May They bless you this day as a result of your choosing to worship them.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

CrossPointe Community Church’s Mission, should we choose to accept it, is to “Share God’s Grace with Our Community.” By the way, ours is not a Mission Impossible! Ours is a Mission that is more than possible because according to Paul in Ephesians “God is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” (3:20). One of the premier ways that God works through us is through the power of prayer. And so one of the most effective ways we can Share God’s Grace with Our Community is by praying for our Community.

To that end, our Church Leaders are asking all of us to participate in Awaken Medina County, in which we will pray for 30 days starting next Sunday for people who live in Chippewa Lake. After you visit www.awakenmedinaco.org to register, you will receive the names of 10 households and access to the free materials that include among other items a 30 day prayer guide that will assist you in how and what to pray for your 10 households. What a wonderful opportunity this is to join forces with God to bring about His will in our community as we pray.

Our leaders would like to invite all of you to gather here on the late afternoon/evening of Saturday, September 18th for a little soirée at which we will enjoy fellowship, food, fun and a little music.

Many of you have already noticed that we have Randy Hall today. And we are very blessed to have him as our special speaker today. Randy is a member of the Wadsworth Camp of the Gideons. The Gideons started in 1899 in Wisconsin and has grown into a world-wide Christian organization that excels in distributing Bibles. He has been with us several times over the last decade and each time he comes you folks tell me that I missed a very special blessing. And so we look forward to hearing what Randy has to bring us.

By the way Randy, did you hear about the very gracious lady who was mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another part of the country. When she took it to the Post Office, the clerk asked, “Is there anything breakable in here?”
“Only the Ten Commandments,” answered the lady.

Today, we have the added blessing of celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion. If you haven’t already prepared the sacramental elements of your choice, you may want to stop here and do so. All who desire to draw closer to God through faith in His Son are invited to participate.

SCRIPTURAL CALL TO WORSHIP

You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for He forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by His victory over them on the cross.

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Colossians 2:13-15, 6-7

One Way

Douglass, Jonathon/Houston, Joel

I lay my life down at Your feet
Cause You’re the only one I need
I turn to You and You are always there.
In troubled times it’s You I seek
I put You first that’s all I need
I humble all I am all to You.

One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.
One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.

You are always, always there
Every how and everywhere
Your grace abounds so deeply within me
You will never ever change
Yesterday, today the same
Forever till forever meets no end.

One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.
One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.

One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.
One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.

You are the Way, the Truth, and the life
We live by faith and not by sight for You.
We’re living all for You.

You are the Way, the Truth, and the life
We live by faith and not by sight for You.
We’re living all for You.
You are the Way, the Truth, and the life
We live by faith and not by sight for You.
We’re living all for You.

You are the Way, the Truth, and the life
We live by faith and not by sight for You.
We’re living all for You.

One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.
One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.

One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.
One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.

One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.
One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.

One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.
One way, Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for.

Shout to the Lord

Zschech, Darlene

My Jesus, my Savior,
Lord there is none like You,
All of my days, I want to praise,
The wonders of Your mighty love.
My comfort, my shelter,
Tower of refuge and strength.
Let every breath, all that I am,
Never cease to worship You.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth let us sing,
Power and majesty, praise to the King.
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands.
Forever I’ll love You, forever I’ll stand.
Nothing compares to the promise I have, in You.

Nothing compares to the promise I have,
Nothing compares to the promise I have,
Nothing compares to the promise I have… in You.

OPENING PRAYER

Our Gracious and Ever-Loving God, revealed to us in Christ Jesus our Lord and made manifest in and among though the power of Your Holy Spirit, we praise You for coming to our rescue despite our propensity to want to live our lives the way we want to. We were certainly lost without You, but now in Christ we have been found. We humbly ask that You would pour out Your Spirit upon us that we might continue to learn to live our lives for You Lord, for all You’ve done. In the name of our Savior and Lord, Jesus, amen.

OFFERING

I want to thank you for your faithfulness in worshipping and honoring God in this tangible way.

If you would like to send your offering through the mail, our mailing address is:

P O Box 126
Chippewa Lake, OH 44215

As we consider what it means to give, consider what Paul wrote his fellow pastor, Timothy:

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.

I Timothy 6:17-19

OFFERING/PRAYER SONG

You Are My Hiding Place

Ledner, Michael

You are my hiding place.
You always fill my heart
With songs of deliverance.
Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.
I will trust in You.
Let the weak say, ‘I am strong
In the strength of the Lord’.

I will trust in You.
I will trust in You.
Let the weak say, ‘I am strong
In the strength of the Lord.
I will trust in You’.
I will trust in You’.

MORNING PRAYER

Blessed are you, Sovereign God, creator of all, to You be glory and praise for ever. In the beginning, You created the heavens and the earth and then placed an exclamation on it by creating us in your image. And then in the fullness of time, You sent forth Your Son, the Word made flesh. We rejoice that You blessed us with the faith to believe in His sacrifice for our sins because now we have been given the dual gifts of Your Righteousness and the hope of eternity with You.

Lord, thank You for Your abundant, abounding grace. Thank You that we don’t have to earn a drop of the mighty river of grace that flows freely for us in Your Son. Thank You for the unexpected, unmerited favor you’ve showered on our lives. Help us put ourselves in the path of Your love and grace. Help us not neglect the disciplines of prayer and scripture that we need to meet with You regularly.

Lord we have so many concerns and cares, and they weigh us down. While we desire to cast our cares upon You, we confess we usually pick them back up again, and they only add more anxiety and stress. Please help us to learn to trust in You that in our weakness we might find Your strength.

Help us to run with endurance the race You have set before us. We know that because of You we are ultimately victors over the trials in our lives. We know that nothing in this world can separate us from your steadfast love. Please give us a measure of Your strength to endure these days. Thank You for Your love for us that never ends!

We pray in the name of Jesus, amen.

SCRIPTURE

Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord.
Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for Him with all their hearts.
They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in His paths.
You have charged us to keep your commandments carefully.
Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees!
Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with Your commands.
As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank You by living as I should!
I will obey your decrees.
Please don’t give up on me!

Psalm 119:1-8

But you, Timothy, certainly know what I teach, and how I live, and what my purpose in life is. You know my faith, my patience, my love, and my endurance. You know how much persecution and suffering I have endured. You know all about how I was persecuted in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra—but the Lord rescued me from all of it. Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.

But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

II Timothy 3:10-17

CLOSING PRAYER

[I encourage you to pray as you feel led by the Spirit of God].

THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

COMMUNION INVITATION

“For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord Himself. On the night when He was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then He broke it in pieces and said, “This is My body, which is given for you. Do this to remember Me.” In the same way, He took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and His people – an agreement confirmed with My blood. Do this to remember Me as often as you drink it.” For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until He comes again.”

As our Lord offered both the bread and the cup, He said, “Do this to remember Me.” We, therefore, remember that our Lord Jesus, the Christ, according to the promises made in the Old Testament, was sent by the Father into the world; that He assumed our flesh and blood; that He bore for us the wrath of God, under which we should have perished everlastingly; that He fulfilled for us all obedience to the divine law; that He, although innocent, was condemned to death so that we might be acquitted at the judgment seat of God; that He took upon Himself the curse due to us so that He might fill us with His blessings; that He humbled himself unto death, even the bitter and shameful death of the cross, when He cried out with a loud voice, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” so that we might be accepted of God and never be forsaken of Him; and finally, that He confirmed with the shedding of His blood the new and eternal covenant of love, mercy and grace and as He breathed His last upon the cross, said, “It is finished.”

1 Corinthians 11:23-26

PRE-COMMUNION PRAYER

Lord Jesus, what a privilege to be able to come before Your throne of grace and partake of this precious sacrament, in remembrance of Your atoning sacrifice on the cross of Calvary.

We confess that we do not always live our lives in accord with Your will. And we humbly ask that You would hear us as we confess our shortcomings to You now.

Thank You for giving Your life for us on the cross and paying the enormous price for our sins, so that we could be made right in Your sight. Open Your arms and accept us as we are as we come to You now, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

COMMUNION SONG

I Come to the Cross

Somma, Bob/Batstone, Bill

I come to the cross
Seeking mercy and grace,
I come to the cross
Where You died in my place.
Out of my weakness
And into Your strength,
Humbly, I come to the cross.

Your arms are open,
You call me by name.
You welcome this child
That was lost.
You paid the price
For my guilt and my shame.
Jesus, I come,
Jesus, I come,
Jesus, I come to the cross.

RECEIVE THE SACRAMENT

“The body of Christ, given for you.”

“The blood of Christ, shed for you.”

POST-COMMUNION PRAYER

Gracious God, we thank you that in this sacrament You assure us of your goodness and love. Help us to grow in love and obedience, that we may serve You in the world and finally be brought to that table where all Your saints feast with you forever. Father, we offer ourselves to You as a living sacrifice
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Send us out in the power of your Spirit
to live and work for your praise and glory.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

CLOSING SONG

Thy Word

Smith, Michael W.

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.

When I feel afraid,
And I think I’ve lost my way,
Still You’re there right beside me.
Nothing will I fear
As long as You are near.
Please be near me to the end.

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.

I will not forget…
Your love for me, and yet,
My heart forever is wandering.
Jesus be my guide
And hold me to Your side;
I will love You to the end.

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
